First Starbucks Reserve Roastery

Just nine blocks from where we got our start, we realized a decade-long dream: the opening of our first-ever Starbucks Reserve Roastery.

The interactive 15,000-square-foot space is an homage to our relentless pursuit of coffee innovation. So what happens there? An immersive, sensory demonstration of how we source, roast and craft the coffee we love, from the crackle of roasting coffee at first pop to the warm glow of the science-y siphon brewer. Playful touches enhance the experience – like an old-fashioned mechanical clackerboard that displays what’s roasting, and Willy Wonka-inspired pneumatic tubes that spiral overhead.

Our hometown got the first of these special destinations in 2014, and we would go on to open stores in Chicago, Milan, New York, Shanghai and Tokyo.
