Hacienda Alsacia

Due to rising production costs, weather changes and disease, the high-quality coffee we love is getting harder to grow. To address these challenges, we bought Hacienda Alsacia, a coffee farm in Costa Rica, in 2013.

Our mission was clear: make growing coffee more profitable; develop the next generation of disease-resistant, quality coffee; and share what we learn with farmers around the world – not just those who sell to us. Today, the property serves as a working model of responsible farming for small growers, and a celebrated agronomist leads our research and development, using selective breeding to help ensure the future of coffee.

Committed to the success of all coffee communities, we've made everything available to the industry, from our best farming practices to hybrid tree seedlings. Visitors to the farm experience the entire journey of a cup of coffee, from seedling, to roasting, to tasting, and get a first-hand look at the agronomy work we’ve been investing in for decades.
