We’re always looking for ways to invest in the people who live in the neighborhoods we serve. Thousands of military veterans, Opportunity Youth and other members of our communities have found employment opportunities in our stores.
But what about the millions around the world who have been forced from their homes by war, persecution or national disaster who are seeking fresh starts in a new country? In 2017, we decided to officially welcome refugees by committing to hire 10,000 displaced people worldwide. We’re working with refugee resettlement organizations to identify potential partners and provide additional tools, resources and support to address the unique needs of refugee applicants. We’re also funding special refugee job training programs through the Starbucks Foundation.
Our refugee partners aren’t just getting a fresh start and a pathway to integration in their new homes. They’re also enriching their communities (and our stores) with their talent, experience and resilience.
