Even the most dedicated Starbucks fans might not remember our first foray into social media.
The year was 2008, and times were tough. But one way we hoped to reconnect with our customers would be in the digital world with an online community for people to share, vote, discuss and put into action ideas on how to enhance the Starbucks Experience. Each idea was a door, an opening line for conversations on topics our customers cared about.
After MyStarbucksIdea.com launched in March 2008, suggestions poured in – and some of them were great. Devoted regulars called for rewards (we obliged). People requested a mobile payment option (we listened).
The site enjoyed a nine-year run before retiring. The same year it went live, we also joined a couple of other little sites – Twitter and Facebook – where you can still find us.
