We believe that equal pay for similar work is a vital part of building a culture where everyone feels supported and welcome. But in the United States, women are generally paid an average of 80 cents on the dollar compared to men, and the gap is even greater in retail. We knew that we had to do something as an organization to help break down the status quo.
In 2018, after a decade of work, we have reached 100 percent pay equality each year for partners of all genders and races performing similar work across the U.S. And we’ve committed to reaching the same goal for all of our partners worldwide.
We recognize the gender pay gap is an important issue not just for our partners, but for all women. So we’re sharing the tools and best practices we developed to reach our goal of pay equity in the U.S., in the hope that other companies will use these resources to break down barriers to equality within their own organizations. By working together, we can create a cultural shift toward equitable compensation worldwide.
