The Bottled Frappuccino

While our first product with the Pepsi-Cola Company might’ve gotten off to a rocky start, our second collaboration would change the coffee industry forever.

The success of the blended Frappuccino had shown us there was a market for cold coffee beverages, and the time was right to create a bottled version of the popular drink. But it would be a challenge: After all, the in-store Frappuccino drink was made in a blender with crushed ice and milk, not exactly suitable for the grocery aisle.

After months of experimentation – and with the help of an innovative coffee extract developed by our resident scientist – our joint venture Research and Development teams succeeded in crafting something both delicious AND shelf-stable. Our team was elated.

Turns out we didn’t need to. When the bottled Frappuccino beverage launched in the summer of 1996, it flew off the shelves.
